Organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt and Guangzhou BoYou Exhibition Service Co Ltd, the fair was held from 9-12 June 2014 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. The fair welcomed 18,821 visitors from 25 countries and regions and covered 20,000 sqm of space across two halls.

Mr Emeka Hu, General Manager of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt noted: "The joint management and organisation of the 2014 Wire & Cable Guangzhou was successful. Utilising our internationally recognised professionalism in fair management and organisation, we set out to elevate this well-regarded domestic show into a comprehensive international event. Mr Liu Gan, General Manager, Guangzhou BoYou Exhibition Service Co Ltd added: "The cooperation with Messe Frankfurt and their concurrent events Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition and Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology has been beneficial. The synergy with Messe Frankfurt's lighting and building fair has proven to be noteworthy, as some of the exhibitors and visitors from the neighbouring fair were also potential buyers at the Wire & Cable Guangzhou. Our cooperation with Messe Frankfurt has been fruitful and I believe the growth prospects for this event are infinite."

Exhibitors and visitors applauded the show's diversity and professionalism
Both new and returning exhibitors to Wire & Cable Guangzhou saw the exhibition as an effective platform for business expansion on the national and international level.

For returning machinery supplier Dongguan Gemwell Electrical Equipment Co Ltd, the fair provided a fantastic opportunity to capitalise on the growing manufacturing markets across the world. Mr Xia De Feng, General Manager, said: "This year, we have recorded an increasing number of electric wire makers, our target clientele, who came to our booth to source wire and cable production machinery. Additionally, we have also noticed improvements in the show’s visitor profile as a portion of our potential clients were from India, Russia and Southeast Asia. Having established a stronger international client base, we aim to export two-thirds of our products to overseas markets in the near future."

Dongguan Nistar Transmitting Technology Co Ltd is a cable and wire manufacturer for various industries such as lighting fixtures, medical equipment and renewable energy. Ms Bai Xue, company representative expressed: "The synergy effect between the concurrent fairs brought forward additional target visitors as some of our potential clients came from the neighbouring lighting fair. Not only were we able to expand our client base but also created new opportunities for various business applications. Overall, we are satisfied with the results acquired at the show."

Dongguan Newtopp Electrical Machinery Co Ltd, a long term exhibitor specialising in developing and manufacturing wire and cable machinery shared similar sentiments. Mr Zhou You Liang, Sales Manager of Dongguan Newtopp Electrical Machinery Co Ltd expressed: "We have been participating in the show since 2009 and the results of the joint management and organisation efforts from Messe Frankfurt and BoYou was positive, as it improved the show's overall services and created a more professional as well as systematic platform for both exhibitors and visitors. Additionally, we have noticed a broader international buyer demographic where some of them show strong interest towards our machinery and have already arranged factory visits with us."

During the four-day event, visitors were impressed by the prominent brands presented and the diversity of products and technology displayed in the fair. Mr Liu Feng, Engineer Supervisor of Cable Plant Division, Dongguan Primax Electronics & Telecommunication Products Ltd visits the fair every year to source for processing equipment and raw materials. He said: "This fair is a comprehensive platform for sourcing wire and cable related products as well as to seek market intelligence. Like every year, I was able to source for new suppliers and business partners. I will definitely continue to return next year."

Mr Patrick Stuckie, Quality Control Manager, Eurolux (Pty) Ltd from South Africa, commented: "This is my first time at the wire and cable show. My company specialises in lighting applications and is slowly moving into the wiring industry. Hence, I attended the show to source coiling machines for my company's new business venture. There was a large variety of machinery at the show. I have acquired five potential business contacts that carried the machinery we were looking for. Additionally, I really like the idea of the three concurrent shows with lighting, building and cable & wire. For me, the show has been beneficial and even if it was not held concurrently with other shows, I would still come back next year."

On-site concurrent events provided informative sessions regarding the newest industry and product trends
A range of concurrent events also added to the show's success, covering the most relevant issues within the wire and cable sector. Some of the industry’s most influential experts and scholars were invited to share their views on market trends and the latest industry news. Additionally, the product presentation allowed various companies to promote their innovative products as well as industry developments.

Mr Xiong Wei, Chief Engineer, Henan Huaxing Wire & Cable Co Ltd, held a presentation on his company's high-strength aluminium overhead conductors during the product presentation on June 10. Sharing his experience during the event, he mentioned: "The product presentation was a fruitful experience for our company and provided a platform for us to promote our products and company. There were large numbers of attendees during the presentations, proving that the seminars were beneficial to the visitors. The atmosphere in the conference room was very positive."

The next edition of Wire & Cable Guangzhou is scheduled to take place from 9 -12 June 2015 once again at the China import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.
