MMH 121 type multiwire drawing machine
MMH 121 type multiwire drawing machine

At the wire South America 2015 trade fair, Maschinenfabrik Niehoff and Niehoff-Herborn Máquinas Ltda. (NHM), its Brazilian subsidiary, will show an MMH 121 type multiwire drawing machine, an SNH 801 type spooler and a D 631 type double-twist bunching machine with ARP 630 pay-off (booth 612 / 713). All machines were built by NHM under Niehoff licence.

The exhibits on booth 612 / 713
The multiwire drawing machine MMH 121 is designed to draw simultaneously 28 wires with a final diameter of 0,51 ... 0,20 mm (24 ... 32 AWG) at a maximum production speed of 36 m/s (7086 fpm). The wires can be processed to intermediate multiwire bundles. Typical wires which can be produced on the MMH type drawing lines are copper wires for highly flexible cables, automotive cables, battery cables and installation cables. The machines are also suitable for aluminum wires, wires made from copper and aluminum alloys and from other non-ferrous metals.

The wires drawn on such lines have homogeneous physical properties along their whole length and exceed the highest processing requirements. Because of their modular design Niehoff multiwire drawing lines can be adapted to different customer requirements with great flexibility. Meanwhile, more than 1,100 MMH lines are working world-wide.

The SNH 801 type dynamic single spooler is designed for wires with an individual wire diameter of 0.15 ... 4.50 mm (1/2 ... 5 AWG) or multi-wire bundles with a cross section of 0.018 mm2 (34 1/2 AWG) ... 5.50 mm2 (10 AWG). The maximum production speed is 50 m/s (9842 fpm). The machine can accomodate spools with a maximum flange diameter of 800 mm.

The D 631 type double-twist bunching machine is foreseen to produce strands with 0.09 to 6.00 mm2 (27 1/2 ... 9 1/2 AWG) cross section and a steplessly variable lay length of 6 to 100 mm. The maximum number of twists is 6,500 twists/min, the maximum production speed 300 m/min. A special feature is the patented opto-electronic NBAT system (Niehoff Bunching Automatic Traverse), which allows spools to be perfectly spooled. Spooled wire can then be payed-off tangle-free at extremely high speeds with no damage. Other features include the service proven energy-saving single bow (ECO-Bow) design, the contactless transmission of machine data within the machine and the NMS touch-screen display with color user interface.

The ARP 630 type pay-off completes the portfolio for the production of strands. By clamping the spool with the help of pintles spool loading becomes fast and easy. Spools with various bore diameters can be used, and as an option particular spool lifting tables are available too.

Sub-exhibitors
At the Niehoff booth, a complete island booth, will be present: Bühler Würz Kaltwalztechnik (cold rolling mills), Strecker (wire welding machines), HFSAB (lead extruders and cable repair and recovery systems) and Reber Systematik (filtration systems).

Complete solutions from a single source
Maschinenfabrik Niehoff with an experience of more than 60 years engineers and manufactures - except for extruders - nearly all machinery needed for the production of wires made from non-ferrous metals as well as automotive, data and special cables. The Niehoff Group offers products and services that range from product development and planning to turnkey projects of complete cable factories. The portfolio includes technical assistance by specialists who speak the languages of the customers, the reliable supply of original Niehoff spare and wear parts, machinery inspection, equipment upgrade and corrective maintenance as well as machine operator and maintenance training courses.

The Group employs about 750 employees worldwide and operates from its headquarters, five manufacturing subsidiaries (in Brazil, the US, the Czech Republic, India, and China) and sales and service centers in Japan, Singapore, and Russia. Niehoff-Herborn Máquinas Ltda. (NHM) based in Barueri near Sao Paolo was founded in the year 1975. The company is headed by Alex Hoster and has currently more than 80 employees. NHM builds wire processing machinery according to Niehoff standard, but adapted to the particular requirements of the customers in Brazil and neighboring countries. NHM imports other types of machines from the Niehoff headquarters to complement its product line and prepares these equipment for installation at its customers' production sites. NHM is also responsible for customer services and has assumed representation of renowned European suppliers for the wire and cable industry.
